Do. It’s such a simple word, but with a very big meaning. Do means that we are taking action. It may be for good, bad, or somewhere in-between, but it’s something that is actually taking place in our tangible reality. Far too often do many of us, including myself, find ourselves thinking about “doing” this or that instead of actually doing the thing we would like to do. This may apply to something as simple as doing the dishes (very difficult for some!) or as life changing as starting a business (perhaps me one day). Regardless of what we want to do, we often find ourselves stuck in a self created mental pickle with various “what-if” scenarios that stop us from actually doing what we think and want to do.

If you want to lose weight, go to gym, or anything else thinking about it isn’t going to get you anywhere. If you want results then you need to do. This is what I’m discovering more than ever as I complete my first week of my senior year in college. Although I have an internship right now for the duration of my senior year, I really don’t have any concrete plans upon graduation. I definitely have ideas, goals, and a million thoughts, but what seems to be missing is physical action to achieve them. I believe this blog (what I’m doing right now) is definitely an action that can support my effort in attaining perhaps the most significant one–a job and hopefully a career in the health and fitness industry–but it’s only one of many Do’s of what I need to do to achieve it.

The reality of school ending hasn’t hit me yet, and probably won’t until the closing of my spring semester, but not having any plans when that thought hits is what I don’t want. I don’t want to just continue school, work, and all the other things I do like all will be well forever. The time to do is now! for me and perhaps many of you.

So as I begin to do the things I need to do I encourage you to do the same. What we’re doing to achieve our goals, inspirations, etc. may not be totally right, but as long as we’re trying by actually doing I think that’s better than not doing.
